Vocational, college and career counseling in Switzerland : blended information and e-counseling in a digitized world

In the course of the 2030 agenda of vocational education and training (VET) in Switzerland, career development and career management skills in a digitized working world play an important role (SERI, 2017). Therefore the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) commissioned a scientific report on the future of career counseling in Switzerland (Hirschi, 2018) as part of the mission statement for vocational education and training in Switzerland. In this paper we will present two stand-alone initiatives directed at fostering vocational, college and career counseling in Switzerland by incorporating elements of automation and digitization. First, a blended information concept for the media libraries of the public career guidance centres in the Canton of Berne / Switzerland and second an ecounseling concept for vocational, college and career counseling at the IAP Institute of Applied Psychology at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW)

The vocational ID : connecting life design counselling and personality systems interaction theory

We introduce the Vocational ID that integrates linguistic and visual representations of a career counselling client’s self. Based upon findings from the Life Design paradigm and the Personality Systems Interaction theory, the Vocational ID facilitates working on clients' vocational identity. Dynamical model of DNA-protein interaction: effect of protein charge distribution and mechanical properties

The mechanical model based on beads and springs, which we recently proposed to study non-specific DNA-protein interactions [J. Chem. Phys. 130, 015103 (2009)], was improved by describing proteins as sets of interconnected beads instead of single beads. In this paper, we first compare the results obtained with the updated model with those of the original one and then use it to investigate several aspects of the dynamics of DNA sampling, which could not be accounted for by the original model. These aspects include the effect on the speed of DNA sampling of the regularity and/or randomness of the protein charge distribution, the charge and location of the search site, and the shape and deformability of the protein. We also discuss the efficiency of facilitated diffusion, that is, the extent to which the combination of 1D sliding along the DNA and 3D diffusion in the cell can lead to faster sampling than pure 3D diffusion of the protein.Comment: accepted in JC

Narrative Ansätze in Beratung und Coaching : das Modell der Persönlichkeits- und Identitätskonstruktion (MPI) in der Praxis

Bilder lösen unterschiedliche Assoziationen aus; ein Baum im Herbst lässt die einen an den Winter denken, während andere dankbar an den Sommer denken. In der Laufbahnberatung sind solche Bilder wichtig. Man kann sie nutzen, um Geschichten zu erzählen. Genau dies tut die Laufbahnberatung, wenn sie sich narrativer Methoden wie des Career Construction Interviews, der Entwicklungslinie oder des Ressourcenbildes bedient. Der vorliegende Beitrag arbeitet den theoretischen Hintergrund dieser Methoden auf und zeigt ein Beispiel eines konkreten Verfahrens

Career Construction Counseling (CCC) : Komplexität abbilden, reduzieren und die berufliche Identität aktiv gestalten

Das Career Construction Interview (CCI, Savickas 1989; 2019c) ist eine weit verbreitete Methode in der Berufs-, Studien- und Laufbahnberatung (BSLB), die auf der Career Construction Theory (CCT, Savickas 2019b; 2020) basiert. Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird eine Beratungsarchitektur gemäß der CCT inkl. eines Praxisbeispiels vorgestellt. Dabei spielt das CCI eine zentrale Rolle, insbesondere weil mit dem CCI die Komplexität einer individuumszentrierten Beratung abgebildet und die Konstruktion des Selbst sowie der beruflichen Identität wirksam unterstützt werden kann. Die vorgeschlagene Beratungsarchitektur bezieht neben dem CCI auch Persönlichkeits-, Interessen- und Motivfragebogen mit ein. Neben einem starken praktischen Fokus wird im Beitrag die theoretische Fundierung der CCT beschrieben
